fitness program to grow exponentially.
TPDC has also teamed up with local Lockport Chef, Linda Merkle of Doin’ It Raw Inc. and Thanks Jordan Vegan Cafe, to demonstrate cooking strategies when it comes to a healthier diet.  After Linda herself was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2001 and suffered with taking many different medications to ease the pain, she finally decided to try a different remedy, raw foods! Linda found raw foods to be the most effective lifestyle and from there Doin’ It Raw was born.Linda will be a guest speaker at the fitness launch and will be teaching attendees how to make almond milk and brownies, Yum!
In addition to Chef Linda, TPDC has also invited registered dietitian Jeni Panicko, RD, LDN, as a guest speaker. Ms. Panicko, works both as an clinical dietitian and outpatient dietitian. Jeni’s passion, however, is educating her patients in the outpatient setting. Jeni counsels her patients on many different issues including weight loss, bariatric surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, eating disorders, vegetarianism
and GI conditions. She completed her internship and received her Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Jeni is involved in many organizations including; the American Dietetic Association, Weight Management Practice group, and Vegetarian Nutrition Practice Group.
Studio owners Gina Miranda and Deartra Fry realize the importance of how this event is being marketed in the community and within their own studio. Gina is quoted as saying, “I am aware that we have many young, impressionable minds at our studio. We didn’t want the focus of this fitness launch to be on losing weight, we really wanted to emphasize living a healthy and happy lifestyle.”
A representative from Costco with have a table set up in the lobby from 9-10am, running membership promotions and showcasing their health food products as well.
